Queen of Peace Physicians Use "Cool It" Procedure on Heart Patient
BLOOMINGTON, MN - February 11, 2009 - Last summer, 43-year-old Chris Reak of Montgomery suffered sudden cardiac arrest at her home, where paramedics gave her CPR. She was taken to Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague, where doctors treated her with a new "Cool It" protocol, which induces hypothermia to slow the body's metabolism and preserve brain function.
Today, Reak thanked the paramedics and physicians for saving her life. Video courtesy KARE 11.
