Wonderland In The Park Exceeds Fundraising Goal In Support Of Hospital
(NEW PRAGUE, MN - November 18, 2008) – Queen of Peace Foundation's biggest fundraising event, Wonderland in the Park, held November 15 at the New Prague Park Ballroom, was a huge success and raised over $200,000 to benefit Queen of Peace Hospital.
"We are still calculating the final totals," said Heather Tietz, Foundation director. "But we do know that we exceeded our goal of $200,000. We are thrilled, especially in the current economy. It's a great credit to this community."
Hosted by chair couples Bruce and Becky Wolf and Jim and Jean Becker, the gala dinner and auction raised funds to help the hospital acquire technology for surgical services. The success of the event was made possible by a large group of volunteers, businesses and community members who teamed up to make a difference in the health and well-being of the surrounding communities.
"This event would not have been possible without our sponsors and the dedicated efforts of our hundreds of volunteers," said Tietz.
The 40 members of the decorating committee transformed the Park Ballroom into an elegant venue where more than 300 guests enjoyed a wonderful dinner, live music, and silent and live auctions. Live auction items included a snorkeling adventure at Underwater Adventures, a sailboat cruise on the Mississippi, a custom made gold bracelet, a tourmaline and diamond ring, an exclusive wine tasting event, a champagne hot air balloon flight and multiple condo stays at popular vacation spots.
"It was a wonderful evening," said Mary Klimp, Queen of Peace Hospital CEO. "We are very grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered and sponsored this event. The money raised will help us purchase new medical equipment that will benefit our patients tremendously."
